The Donegal Shop was founded by the Walsh family in 1963, which makes our beautiful shop, nestled near the top of Shipquay Street in the heart of Derry, one of the oldest shops in Ireland.

When we first opened our shop, the original Donegal Shop, we stocked mainly traditional Aran sweaters sourced from the hills of Donegal, nutty tweed and fine Irish linen. Since then, the Irish craft industry has come into its own and now we have a beautifully curated range of Celtic jewellery in sterling silver from leading Irish designers, hand-thrown Irish pottery, tweed hats and sumptously soft scarves and throws, as well as a wide range of quality souvenirs.

Over the years we have welcomed many customers from home and abroad and we have been asked so often if we had a website, that in December 2020 we thought it was about time.
